About Vonnie York & APT
I’m a writer, editor, and creative writing professor who works from home. I know, stupidest move ever, but here we are. My house isn’t clean, my mother says my kids are “being raised by wolves” because of my 1970s approach to parenting (what? I survived), and at best, I nail 1/3 of my daily to-do list. Dinner is as much of a surprise to me as it is to everyone else, and I wake up at 3 a.m. every night to psychoanalyze my life, to have imaginary conversations, or to have my absolute best creative writing ideas…or to wonder what that vivid dream about a redneck driving a truck with an outhouse in the backseat means in the grand scheme of things.
To cope I write satire, fiction featuring dysfunctional women (no idea why I’m drawn to that at all…), and the occasional true story. I also operate Creative Editing Services in the vein of a respectable adult with a mortgage and a Costco Visa card who wants to avoid bankruptcy court. I’m also working on a new novel-length satire. I expect it to be done sometime between now and when my liver is 100 (or I turn 40, whichever occurs first).
